A Neighborhood Full of Big Seasons

Roscoe Village has a reputation as one of the most family-friendly corners of the North Side, with leafy side streets, strollers on Roscoe Street, and neighbors who wave. It's also where a lot of people are deep in a big season: a new baby, a busy toddler, a career in flux, and a relationship trying to keep up with all of it. Just like your neighborhood, you might feel like you're straddling multiple parts of your identity during a big life transition.

What Often Brings Parents In

  • The worry since the baby came won't settle, you feel far away from yourself, and you can't tell whether any of it is normal.
  • You miss parts of your old life and have lost track of who you are outside of being Mom or Dad.
  • You're the one who remembers, plans, and manages everything, and you're quietly exhausted.
  • You and your partner feel more like co-managers than a couple lately.

Our perinatal therapy and parenthood support were made for seasons like this one. McKenna Carmen works with new parents, and Emily Buettner is currently pursuing additional perinatal training.

If you've been wondering whether what you feel is more than ordinary new-parent worry, our article on telling postpartum anxiety apart from normal worry can help you sort it out.

Therapy That Works Around Nap Time

Every session happens online. Log on during nap time, after bedtime, or from a quiet corner while someone else has the kids. No commute and no childcare scramble.

How We Work

Our therapists are relational, which really just means we're curious about the people and patterns in your life, not only what's going wrong. Even when you come on your own, we look at how your relationships, past and present, shape the way you think, feel, and react. Then we give you something practical to try that week.

We'll laugh with you when it fits, too. Therapy can matter a great deal without feeling heavy every minute.

You set the direction. Your goals, values, and lived experience guide the work, and our practice is affirming for people of every background, including LGBTQ+ and BIPOC clients.

Support for You, Too

Not everything is about parenting. Individual therapy is here for the anxiety, burnout, and transitions that belong to you as a person. And when life at home has gotten loud, couples therapy can help you and your partner reconnect.

Who You'll Work With

Frequently Asked Questions

Do you have an office in Roscoe Village?

No, and that's on purpose. We're a Chicago practice and every session happens online, so you can meet with your therapist from home or anywhere else in Illinois.

Can my baby be with me during an online session?

Yes. Your therapist is happy to meet you where you are, and plenty of new parents join with a baby nearby.

Does online therapy work as well as in-person?

For a lot of what brings people in, like anxiety, depression, and relationship stress, research shows online therapy works about as well as sitting in an office. What matters most is feeling understood by the person on the other side of the screen.

Do you take insurance?

We're in network with BCBS PPO, UnitedHealthcare PPO, and Aetna PPO. Plans vary, so it's worth a quick call to your insurer to check your mental health benefits. If you're out of network, we can give you a superbill to submit for possible reimbursement, and private pay is always an option if you'd rather keep insurance out of it.

What happens in the free consultation?

Think of it as a chance to say hello. You'll share a little about what's going on, ask whatever is on your mind, and we'll talk about whether working together feels right. No commitment and no pressure.

This Season Can Feel Lighter

You don't have to wait until things fall apart. If this season is heavier than you expected, reach out and let's talk about what support could look like for you.
